Remember to return loaned material in time, or renew your loan period
If you return books or other items late you will have to pay a fine. The fine is registered automatically on your account.
You will get a fine whether a reminder was sent or not. The fine is not a payment for the reminder that was sent, but a charge that you need to pay for items that were returned late. If you have outstanding fines exceeding NOK 350,- you need to pay before you can continue borrowing. If your fines are less than NOK 350,- you may still borrow items although the fine is registered on your account.
You will only receive one reminder after the loan has expired, before receiving a bill for items that you have not returned yet. If you return the items that you borrowed after receiving the bill, you will not have to pay for the items, but a charge of NOK 150,- will still apply.
Loan period? Check your receipt!
The loan period varies according to the type of item. The receipt contains information about all borrowed items and when they are due back.
Renewals
If you wish to keep items longer than the specified return date you can renew them up to three times provided that they have not been reserved by another user. To avoid fines you should renew items before their return date.
You can renew items online at www.stavanger-kulturhus.no or by using the library’s self service machines or by telephone.
