Welcome to Sølvberget, Stavanger kulturhus, Stavanger's cultural centre, where knowledge, experience and understanding merge.
Sølvberget, Stavanger kulturhus was established in 1987, and has ever since then been a key institution in Stavanger's cultural life. Sølvberget is situated in the middle of the city centre, and has more than 1,7 million visitors a year.
Sølvberget, Stavanger kulturhus contains a wide range of cultural activities. The main contributors are Stavanger public library, one of the largest public libraries in Norway, and Kino1, Stavanger's movie theatre.
Festivals
Sølvberget, Stavanger kulturhus and Stavanger public library, are known outside the country borders and assist in arranging several literature festivals. The best known are Kapittel, Stavanger international festival for literature and freedom of speech, the biannual Nordic conference on literature for young people, and the annual Literature week at Sting, which is co-arranged with Café Sting every autumn.
Other activities in Sølvberget, Stavanger kulturhus
Regular music arrangements, plays, artistic installations and exhibitions all take place in Sølvberget. Sølvberget also collaborates with many other associations and organizations in Stavanger by offering the stage and display facilities for their use. This gives them the opportunity to show their activities and thereby demonstrate the variety of cultural and organizational activities in the city.
