The International Library is part of the Library in Stavanger, and it has one of Norway's biggest collections of foreign-language literature.
The International Library is a library for those who wish to read literature in other languages than Norwegian. We offer books in almost 50 languages, split on two departments; one for adults and one for children and teenagers.
More than 50.000 books
Each of the two departments offer literature for ethnic minorities, for tourists or for Norwegians who are learning or interested in different languages. All together we have over 25.000 books. Not included in this figure is our English collection whose number is close to 30.000!
We are also actively looking for audio books in the languages, as well as movies from around the world.
Our goal is that the International Library should be as representative, real and exciting as possible. We are dependent on borrowers, so we thankfully welcome all requests and tips for new books, magazines and newspapers.
Books, music and movies from all the corners of the world
The International Library offers books in close to 50 languages. We pass on advice and comments to the Music and Film Library about requests for world music and films produced in places other than Hollywood.
